2017 Hyundai Ioniq Triplets Electrify New York

Sonatas equipped with blind spot detection receive additional benefits of lane change assist and rear cross traffic alert. Hyundai will offer every Ioniq model with its 5-year unlimited mileage warranty with the additional high-voltage battery cover set at 8 years/125,000 miles. Hyundai UK boss Tony Whitehorn has already said the best way to introduce more hybrid technology to the firm's line-up is to start with a dedicated car. What's more, Hyundai is seeking to introduce 26 electrified vehicles by 2020, its wants to be a global top-2 green car maker by then, and it is playing for keeps. Firstly, the hybrid version will be released, Plug-in hybrid and full electric vehicle will be available later. Hyundai came to the hybrid game late, but its technology has progressed quickly.

Neither has specified EPA numbers yet, but Toyota says the Prius Prime could get around the same as the non-plug-in Prius, perhaps around 52 mpg, and the Hyundai could get more - as much as 56, likely no less than 51, and ultimately to be determined.

The Ioniq line-up delivers great driver and passenger convenience, bringing to the segment a range of considerations for which other Hybrid, Plug-in Hybrid and Electric vehicles may have compromised. This develops 77kW at 5700rpm and 147Nm at 4000rpm, which are modest numbers augmented by the 32kW permanent synchronous electric motor mounted just ahead of the Ioniq's gearbox. Back to the Hybrid and what we have is one of the company's gasoline direct injection ‘Kappa' units, a 1.6-litre normally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine.

Helping it deliver on those promises is an all-new lightweight chassis designed around a floor-mounted position Hyundai Ioniq for the battery pack - key to keeping an electric vehicle's weight as low as possible. Both the Ioniq Hybrid and Ioniq Electric will be attractive company-car options, with Benefit-in-Kind (BiK) rates of 15% and 7% respectively.

Prices for the purely electric version start at £28,995, which will get you a much more generous equipment level mirroring that of the Hybrid Premium trim, including LED headlamps, adaptive cruise control and integrated navigation system among others.

The plug-in hybrid version of the Prius itself was only introduced in its first generation in 2012, but now the fully redesigned and thus evolved Prius plug-in is more of a known quantity, with solid reliability and resale scores. The Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid and Ioniq Plug-in both feature the new Kappa 1.6 GDI, direct injection petrol, four-cylinder engine with a class-leading thermal efficiency of 40 per cent delivering 105 PS and 147 Nm of torque. It's one of the few automakers that publicizes 0-60 m.p.h. times for hybrids and EVS — about 10 seconds for the Ioniq EV, 10.8 for the Ioniq hybrid. The Ioniq also features an electronic parking brake (EPB), conserving space in the center console. So hybrid profile aside, Hyundai has gone all out to make the Ioniq startlingly normal, particularly on the inside. We drove the Hybrid first, and found it tolerably pleasant, but not sensational.

South Korean newspaper Electronics Times said on Thursday that Hyundai planned to open 10 dedicated Genesis stores in South Korea by next year, including in Seoul's wealthy Gangnam district and the southeastern city of Busan. Eco models achieve 28 and 36 mpg EPA fuel economy, city and highway, and 31 mpg combined. As for the interior, both hybrid and plug-in also get console-mounted shifters.
